Originally released in 2006, A Piece of Strange marks the defining moment in CunninLynguists’ catalog, bringing their sound and identity fully into focus. Natti joined founding members Deacon the Villain and Kno for his first studio album with the group, establishing the three-man core that remains intact twenty years later.

Already respected for their witty bars and inventive beats, CunninLynguists expanded their reach here through more ambitious songwriting and a deeper sense of musicality. Kno’s richly layered production provided the foundation for vivid storytelling, soulful melodies, and an emotional depth that rewarded repeated listening. The wit and lyrical dexterity were still there, now woven into songs with greater purpose and resonance.

Available exclusively through Coalmine’s web store, the “Midnight Garden” edition pairs Ghostly Emerald and Black Ice vinyl in a limited run of just 300 copies. This 2×LP set is housed in a 24pt jacket with printed inner sleeves featuring lyrics and updated layout and design by Jelle Smid. Audio has been remastered for vinyl by D-Sane at Digital Age Sound and cut at 33⅓ RPM, compared with the original pressing’s 45 RPM.
